Encaustic Historical Buildings

I have recently been dabbling with Encaustics and in preparation for this years CMCSS art teacher exhibit held at Ms. Lucille's created a very unusual series depicting historical places in Clarksville, TN. Clarksville has some very charming buildings as well as natural places to visit, so my goal was to showcase some of these places and spaces.
I did a 4 piece series showing Dunbar Cave, The Roxy Theatre, The Uneeda Biscuit Industrial Building, and The Custom House Museum. The pieces were sold during the exhibit for $65 a piece. They are 6x6 inch encaustics on wood panel.

They were actually so popular I ended up being commissioned to do a second set.

Abstract series

This is all about color! I had a lot of fun creating these 3 pieces. It was a process of paint, pour, wait. Etc... but I love the results!

Abstract Town

This painting was done over an older painting that was outdated. This image is after I painted over the original. I purposely left a little of the bold colors to stand out.
I layered color and then went in and added the detail with a palette knife using oil.
Loved the final result!
